Copan Self-UriSponge™ is intended for collecting, transporting, and preserving urine specimens and is suitable for the DNA amplification of Bacteria, Chlamydiae, Protozoa, Mycoplasmas and viruses – such as human papillomavirus (HPV) – responsible for sexually transmitted infections (STI).
Once the urine sample has been collected, the tube allows its transport from the collection site to the medical laboratory. In the laboratory, the sample can be analyzed with molecular biology techniques.
Preservation: The performance you need!
Thanks to preservatives onto the applicator sponge, the Self-UriSponge™ device sustains the transport and preservation of DNA of Viruses, Bacteria, Chlamydiae, Protozoa, and Mycoplasmas for up to 1 week at room temperature (20-25°C) and up to 3 weeks at refrigerated temperature (2-8°C). Self-UriSponge™ is able to collect and maintain HPV viral DNA, with a good correlation correlation
between the time of sample collection and stability time-points.
